Sustainable Eco-Friendly Beauty

In our daily lives, we often overlook the environmental footprint of seemingly innocuous routines, such as our hair care regimen. The beauty industry, particularly the hair care sector, plays a significant role in contributing to environmental degradation. Each year, millions of plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles end up in landfills, adding to the already alarming levels of plastic waste.

As consumers, it's crucial that we understand the impact of our choices and consider more sustainable alternatives. By doing so, we can contribute to a healthier planet while still enjoying the benefits of quality hair care products! On Stage Salon makes an effort to carry sustainable beauty ranging from haircare to skincare. Haircare and skincare brands we carry that offer eco-friendly products include Oribe and Jane Iredale!

Oribe’s Sustainability

Oribe claims to be cruelty-free, stating they do not test their products on animals at any stage of product development. Oribe is on a journey to craft their products more consciously, focusing on responsible ingredients, recyclability, and innovative use of materials for better luxury packaging and mindful formulations. Oribe has made strides in sustainable packaging by transitioning 14 of their bottles to be made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR), which helps reduce plastic waste and lower their carbon footprint.

By 2025, Oribe aims to have 100% of their plastic packaging reach recycled status, which is expected to prevent over 19 tons of virgin plastic waste annually. Their packaging also comes from responsible sources, and their formulations feature moisture-locking biopolymers that reduce the hot water needed for cleansing and rinsing by up to 30%!

Jane Iredale Sustainability

In the world of beauty, Jane Iredale stands out not only for its commitment to clean, mineral-based makeup but also for its dedication to eco-friendly practices. The brand’s holistic approach extends beyond nurturing skin to nurturing our planet. With products free from harsh chemicals and synthetic preservatives, Jane Iredale ensures that beauty routines contribute positively to environmental health.

Their LEED-certified headquarters, recyclable packaging, and sustainable ingredient sourcing are testaments to their green philosophy. Moreover, their SPF-infused powders offer protection without compromising the planet’s well-being. By choosing Jane Iredale, consumers support a brand that aligns with their values, advocating for a healthier planet and a more sustainable future.

While we love Oribe and Jane Iredale, we carry a range of different brands such as but not limited to Wella, Smashbox, and Aveda that practice sustainable beauty as well. We recommend doing your research when discovering brands and potentially purchasing products to ensure that a brand is truly eco-friendly!

When using eco-friendly products, it is equally as important to make note of recycling instructions that are typically provided on product packaging. Following the specific instructions ensures that the materials are processed correctly and efficiently. By choosing products with clear recycling instructions and following them, consumers support the market for recycled materials, which in turn encourages manufacturers to use more recycled content! It takes less energy to recycle materials than to produce them from scratch. What a win for both sides, consumer and manufacturer, and most importantly what a win for the Earth!

Remember, the goal is not to be perfect but to make necessary tweaks and changes to curb environmental impact!
