Lash Extensions 101: What You Need to Know

Lash extensions have been quickly becoming a staple to many. Several years ago, fake eyelash strips were the only way to go, but now so many people get their eye lash extensions refilled religiously every 2-4 weeks and swear by them. Why the obsession? Life is busy and there is a limit to the moments of mascara. Having lash extensions means that the instant you wake up, you have the eyelashes of your dreams without the hassle of lash curlers, mascara or strips of false lashes! Eyebrows, eyelashes and skin... that's where it's at - so invest in those areas! Eyebrows frame your face, eyelashes accentuate and call attention to your eyes and your skin is not only your canvas, but also your body's largest organ!

Although Amanda is au natural, her eyelashes give her an effortlessly adorable look. Her lashes are more of a "natural" fullness. Check out the slideshow at the bottom of this post to see different sets and styles of extensions!

What To Know About Eyelash Extensions

The Appointment

We recommend going into your appointment without any eye make-up, although your esthetician can remove any product if necessary.

Your appointment will begin with a consultation, during which your eyelash specialist will discuss with you the style and outcome you desire for your lashes. The process begins with a gel patch being placed underneath your eyes, and then your lash specialist will spend a couple of hours adhering individual eyelash strands onto your natural eyelashes.

Our esthetician uses Bella Lash eyelash extensions and adhesive for the process. After she has achieved the final look, she will use a small fan to help 'set' the adhesive.

After-Care Speak with your esthetician for proper aftercare specific to you, but we are going to share some general good practices!

Lash extensions fall out with your natural lashes, so book regular refills to keep them looking full. We usually recommend between 2-4 weeks, but that may vary based on individuals, so please consult your lash specialist! If you wait too long, you may no longer qualify as a lash refill and may have to pay for a full set service.

Avoid swimming, sweating and steam for up to 48 hours after your lash extensions, this will allow the glue to finish setting. To read more about the dos and don'ts of lash extensions, click here!

Eyelash extensions will be a low-maintenance part of your daily routine. Use a recommended lash cleanser each day to remove any debris, dirt or other build-up. Use a clean mascara wand to comb through your lashes daily, and use an extension-safe lash cleanser daily. Use oil-free cosmetics, extension-safe mascaras and lash-growth serums.

If you live in the Woodlands, Magnolia, Conroe or Spring area - stop by our salon for a consultation with our esthetician and lash specialist, Samantha. She focuses on classic lash extensions, and can customize your look to give you more natural or full looking lashes.
