Perm After Care

How to protect your new texture and keep those curls bouncy and beautiful!

1. Hands Off for 48 Hours

Don’t wash, wet, or tie up your hair for the first 48 hours. This gives the curl pattern time to fully set and helps prevent frizz or uneven texture.

2. Shampoo Smart

  • Use a sulfate-free, curl-friendly shampoo and conditioner.

  • Avoid heavy clarifying products—they can strip moisture and loosen your curl.

  • Wash gently, massaging your scalp without rough scrubbing.

3. Moisture Is Key

Permed hair tends to be drier, so hydration is essential:

  • Use a deep conditioning mask once a week.

  • Apply a lightweight leave-in conditioner or curl cream to keep curls soft and defined.

  • Avoid heavy oils or butters that can weigh curls down.

4. Detangle with Care

  • Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers while hair is wet and conditioned.

  • Never brush dry curls—it disrupts the pattern and causes frizz.

5. Air-Dry When You Can

  • Let curls air-dry or use a diffuser on low heat.

  • Avoid high heat styling tools, especially flat irons, which can permanently loosen your curl.

6. Sleep with Protection

  • Use a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction.

  • Tie hair in a loose braid to preserve curl shape overnight.

7. Schedule Touch-Ups Thoughtfully

Perms typically last 3–6 months depending on your hair type and curl style. Book a consultation before re-perming to assess hair health and avoid over-processing.
